AUDITION FORMS COMING SOON

Community Theater productions and Children's Workshop productions:

What's the difference?
At Studio B, we offer different types of productions.

A community theater production is open to all ages--kids and adults. An audition is required, but there is no tuition. A costume fee and an ad sale for the program may be required. Parents with young children wishing to audition are encouraged to participate as well. Rehearsals are fast paced and roles are limited, meaning not everyone gets a part. Rehearsals are generally in the late evening and on weekends. Community theater productions are led by professional directors.

A children's workshop production is an educational experience to not only teach acting and singing skills, but also to help foster creativity, self esteem, imagination and confidence. Workshops are led by professional acting instructors. Rehearsals are held after school. Rehearsals culminate into performances. All children will participate, audition techniques will be taught during the first part of the workshop and auditions are held during workshop for assignments. Tuition applies.

 FAQS ABOUT AUDITIONS:
What should I prepare?
Come with a prepare monologue (one minute) and song (16 bars). If you have a CD with your music please bring it. A headshot and acting resume are optional, but recommended.

What is a monologue?
A monologue is a memorized and prepared speech or poem delivered by one person to show a character or range of emotions. For children, monologues should not be longer than one minute. Young children may choose to recite poetry.

Can you help me find a monologue?
Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends) has some great poetry for young kids. You can also check websites such as:

You can also check the library for collections of good monologues.

What is the audition process like?
We hold auditions as posted. When you come to audition, show up during the time frame and sign in. You will be called in to audition in the order you signed in. Parents are asked to wait in the lobby. If callbacks are necessary, you will be notified to return on another date/time. In some cases, you may be asked to read from the script during the audition either by yourself or with a group. Audition results are usually emailed.
